Basketball Coaches

John Berry

John Berry (a.k.a. Coach Berry) has been a skill development trainer since 1993 and has instructed/coached over a 1,000 kids. Dating back, Coach Berry has coached at the recreation, travel, AAU, Junior Varsity and Varsity levels.

Since 2007, Coach Berry has coached three (3) high school basketball teams: Woods Charter School (Varsity Boys), Woods Charter (Varsity Girls) and Seaforth High School (Junior Varsity Boys).


The “surgical instruction” style, with an emphasis on detail has been Coach Berry’s calling card. Coach Berry is, and always has been committed to helping youth in life and on the basketball court. At Youth Hoops, he pledges the same!

Andre Nabors

Born Aug. 17, 1970 in Beckley, WV; Woodrow Wilson HS 2nd team All-State Basketball; attended Concord University in 1988 -1992 and graduated with a BA degree in Travel & Tourism. A 4yr basketball letterman at Concord, helped the program to four 20 win seasons and an NAIA “Sweet 16” National Tournament appearance in 1993; the first Concord team to ever make the tournament.


Andre` R. Nabors has coached boys and girls basketball on the middle and high school level (South Charleston, WV) since 2001. Andre` has been coaching the WV Tornadoes Girls Basketball Club during NCAA sanctioned and scouting tournaments in Memphis, TN, Chicago, IL, Hampton, VA, Indianapolis, IN, Washington, DC.

Moved to Mebane, NC in 2008 and began coaching with the Garner Flames Travel Basketball program, then started working with the Carolina Belles Blue Star girls program. In 2011, Andre began coaching at The Elon School girls and boys basketball teams as an assistant, and head boys’ basketball coach the following season.

Matt Gup

As Director of Business Operations, Coach Matt Gup is charged with the day-to-day, website management, video creation and onsite camp setup.
 
Over the last 3 years, Coach Matt has been deeply entrenched with Youth Hoops, and has his hands in almost every business area.


In addition, Coach Matt doubles as one of Youth Hoops’ preeminent basketball skill development coaches. Coach Matt’s calling card is his unique, even-keeled instruction methods to get the most out of campers.

Charles Byrd

Charles Byrd is a basketball coach who helps young athletes take their skill and basketball IQ to the next level. As a former athlete himself, he fully understands the game of basketball and strives to help others do the same. He firmly believes in the term student-athlete and encourages the youth to focus on their studies while also allowing them a safe place to lose themselves in the game. 


Byrd began coaching in 2016 at Fuquay- Varina Middle School as a girl's middle school basketball coach. After one one short year he went on to coach girls' basketball at Fuquay-Varina High School for two years and then at Jordan Matthew's High School the following 2 years.

Byrd is currently the head women's basketball coach at Seaforth High School. During the 2021 - 2022 season, he led the lady hawks to a conference championship and received coach of the year honors. In addition to coaching women's high school basketball teams, he has also coached various AAU basketball teams. Through these programs, he creates a platform for athletes to build their legacy. 

Kendall Marshall

Kendall Marshall is a former professional basketball player turned coach with 15+ years of combined experience.

Marshall started playing basketball at a young age, going on to play at the University of North Carolina where he won the Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation’s top point guard. With his pass-first style of play, he set many records during his time with the Tar Heels including the all-time ACC record in assists in a single season.


A lottery pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Marshall played in the NBA for 4 years before retiring to pursue coaching. He now focuses on helping the youth hone their craft and reach their ultimate goals and dreams.

Antonio Hayes

Coach Hayes is an elite skills trainer working with an entire gamut of basketball experience: college players, high schoolers, middle schoolers, and grade school players. He attacks every workout with the same intent to provide the best possible experience for every player in the gym. 


Coach Hayes has worked with players of all ages and skill levels in numerous settings (including but not limited to individual, small group, team, camp, and clinic sessions). He focuses on improving the on-court skill of players while also using basketball as a vehicle to teach players constructive values and lessons on their journey to success after the ball stops bouncing.

Lenell Wallace

As a high school basketball coach (varsity boys) for 12+ years, Coach Lenell Wallace has amassed over 200 wins. In addition, Coach Wallace has been a championship AAU basketball coach.


Coach Wallace specializes in helping kids from the ground up fundamentally or enhance the skills a player currently has.
 
Depending on kid’s grade level, Coach Wallace also can tell players what middle or high school coaches are looking. This information can be used to position kid in best position to succeed.

John Alcox

Between North and South Carolina, Coach Alcox has over 30 years of experience as a basketball coach, and individual basketball trainer.

As a coach, Coach Alcox has led 13 teams to a championship or runner up finish and has been named conference coach of the year three times.


Coach Alcox has coached 14 all conference players, 5 all district players, and 3 conference players of the year.

As a trainer, over the span of 27 years, Coach Alcox has worked with several young men and women who went on to reach their ultimate goal of playing college basketball.

Erica Berry

Erica Berry is a NASF certified Personal Trainer and a AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor.  With a strong emphasis on strength and conditioning, Erica has a vested interest in helping individuals of all ages and fitness levels to surpass their perceived limitations.


Erica has extensive experience  in creating individualized plans, helping clients to set achievable goals, and meet them. These goals include discussions on behavioral patterns and mindset. 

Since opening in 2020, B2Fit club has served young and older athletes alike.  Being an athlete is a mindset. Growing stronger is empowering.  

“Motivation is not a feeling you wait for, it’s a formed habit that you work for and with consistency it will become a part of your life”.
