Testimonials
Jan Boxill
I have enrolled my grandson in several of Coach Berry's camps and sessions for the past 5 years. And I almost always stay to observe the sessions to watch him teach and coach. His coaching style and those of his staff are just what kids need to learn and be excited about basketball and playing together as a team. He not only teaches skills and skill development, he teaches what kids need not just to be a good individual player, but a team player along with life lessons. He teaches each to his or her own level and pushes them to develop to the next level with encouragement and always with in a positive manner and positive feedback. When he sees a kid that looks discouraged he unobtrusively takes them aside to show him or her what to do, and when the kid does it, he often says, "You see what you can do? You got this!!" That changes the whole demeanor not just for that person, but for everyone!! He NEVER embarrasses anyone. And his sessions are always done with good humor. He wants them to have fun while they learn. He is very good at demonstrating and explaining clearly what each drill is. and makes sure everyone knows. He will have kids to demonstrate as well and encourages peer learning. LOVE IT. No matter the level, If you have a beginner or a son or daughter at any level who is shy or afraid, Coach Berry's sessions are the best. And he always interacts with the parents as well from the beginning of each session to the end. He talks with the kid and parents to make sure they enjoyed the session. I have recommended Youth Hoops to many people who have taken advantage of the program. . THANKS COACH BERRY and your great coaching staff.
Michelle Martin
My son played on a number of AAU/travel basketball teams. None of them focused on individual skill development to provide young athletes with the right technique. Too many teams and coaches at the youth level focus on winning now. Youth Hoops focuses on correct shooting technique, defensive footwork, rebounding, and fundamental principles of good offense and defense. This is so much more important to player development than winning a game. Coach Berry has pushed my son with love. He was patient with him, challenged him, and taught him things about basketball I never could (I enjoyed learning too, especially Tom Izzo’s rebounding technique). Jacob is a sophomore playing on a top level club team with realistic chances for a college scholarship. He would not be on this stage without the coaching he received from John Berry. Oh, and practice will run over - because Coach wants to ensure your kids get the most out of every thoughtfully crafted session. But who doesn’t want a coach focused on the players and not on the clock.

My son has done the camps and private lessons (thru Youth Hoops Basketball Camps) and both are great!
Meet Our Coaches
Charles Byrd
Byrd began coaching in 2016 at Fuquay- Varina Middle School as a girl's middle school basketball coach. After one one short year he went on to coach girls' basketball at Fuquay-Varina High School for two years and then at Jordan Matthew's High School the following 2 years.
Byrd is currently the head women's basketball coach at Seaforth High School. During the 2021 - 2022 season, he led the lady hawks to a conference championship and received coach of the year honors. In addition to coaching women's high school basketball teams, he has also coached various AAU basketball teams. Through these programs, he creates a platform for athletes to build their legacy.
Antonio Hayes
Coach Hayes has worked with players of all ages and skill levels in numerous settings (including but not limited to individual, small group, team, camp, and clinic sessions). He focuses on improving the on-court skill of players while also using basketball as a vehicle to teach players constructive values and lessons on their journey to success after the ball stops bouncing.
John Berry
The “surgical instruction” style, with an emphasis on detail has been Coach Berry’s calling card. Coach Berry is, and always has been committed to helping youth in life and on the basketball court. At Youth Hoops, he pledges the same!
ALL BASKETBALL CAMPS COME WITH A MONEY BACK GUARANTEE ... PERIOD!!!
Youth Hoops Basketball Camps offer ongoing, year-round, youth basketball camps for kids (boys & girls) ranging in ages 6 to 14. Our youth basketball camps are based on a comprehensive course curriculum, which emphasizes basketball fundamentals. Such basketball fundamentals include ball handling, shooting, offensive moves, defense and inside play/rebounding.
It is the goal of Youth Hoops to teach basketball fundamentals to as many kids as possible. Too many times, when watching the youth play (in pick-up, recreation, AAU and high school games), fundamentals are vastly lacking. Using professional and portable basketball drills, kids will be able to improve their game greatly. In addition, many drills may be repeated anywhere.
